Nutmeg makes you healthy!
Nutmeg has recently launched MyNutmeg a new online healthy eating program, revolutionising the way people see their diets and putting them in control of their weight and personal nutrition.
Here at Nutmeg we think there is so much confusing and conflicting information out there about what to eat that it can be hard to keep track of what you’re eating throughout the day.
MyNutmeg does the hard work for you, adding up the calorie and nutrition content of what you eat and showing how this balances against your nutritional needs.
You can aim to lose, maintain or gain weight. MyNutmeg takes account of individual characteristic such as sex, weight, height and physical activity.
You can also select your diet preferences such as vegetarian or low fat options.
A unique benefit of MyNutmeg is the ‘suggestions’ feature which highlights foods causing a nutritional imbalance and suggests similar but healthier alternatives.
MyNutmeg contains a database of over 3,600 basic and branded foods, making it easy to eat a healthy diet based on normal every day foods. There are also hundreds of diverse recipes to inspire you to get cooking!
Robert Hobson, a nutritionist at Nutmeg says: ‘‘People often aren’t aware of how much salt and sugar is in apparently ‘healthy’ foods. For example, breakfast cereals can contain staggering amounts of sugar and salt. Using MyNutmeg is like having a personal nutritionist!”
MyNutmeg users enter their daily food choices into an attractive and easy-to-use “food diary”. Foods are analysed and graded using the Food Standards Agency’s ‘traffic light’ colour code.
Colourful charts show actual and required levels of salt, sugar, fat, saturated fat, fibre, protein and carbohydrates.
MyNutmeg also adds up your 5-a-day as you fill in the menu and gives you a shopping list of what you need to buy!
New foods are added to MyNutmeg daily. Why not tell us about your favourite recipe so we can include this too! You can either drop us an email or write on our Facebook wall.
MyNutmeg doesn’t tell you what to eat, it suggests how you can adjust your diet to achieve your personal goals.
